What is the Reduce Fires, Raise Money Program?
The Reduce Fires, Raise Money Program is first and foremost an educational initiative, sponsored by CFSI, to raise awareness about the growing danger of candle fires. The purpose of the program is to prepare fire departments across the country to educate their communities about candle safety, and to explain why Flameless Candles are the safest alternative to actual candlelight. As an added bonus, Candle Impressions –the world’s leading manufacturer of Flameless Candles– has agreed to donate 20% of all proceeds related to the program back to the individual departments who have referred those sales.

What is a Flameless Candle?
A Flameless Candle looks, feels, and flickers exactly like a real candle. BUT, with no open flame, these candles deliver the beauty and ambience of authentic candlelight with absolutely no risk of fire or danger. The candles are made from real wax and run for up 250 hours on just two AA batteries! The candles themselves last forever; making them much more economical than a regular candle that is constantly burned and replaced.

How can I sign up my fire department?
Just click the “Sign Up” link on the homepage, or click here. Fill out the form and you’ll receive an email within 48 hours with information on how to easily put the program to work in your department. Signing up simply allows us to match your department with a buyer referral so we can confirm your donation and send it to the right place.

Can safety organizations participate as well?
Absolutely. When signing up just enter the name of your organization in the “Fire Station Name” field and you’re all set.

How does this program actually reduce fires?
In addition to educating the community about fire safety, a large part of this program is about explaining the reasons why our community members should actually replace their regular candles with Flameless Candles. If that happened in homes across the country, we could have prevented over 15,000 fires last year.

What’s the best way to raise awareness?
Visit the Tools section of this website for lots of great information and materials to help you effectively raise awareness in your community. We strongly recommend purchasing flyers and samples, or the starter kit, to be able to clearly explain the dangers of candles and show that Flameless Candles are a realistic alternative.

How will our department raise money?
The website www.goflameless.com is a website, completely dedicated to this program, where community members can purchase Flameless Candles. After making a purchase, they will be asked to indicate which fire department told them about the site, and 20% of their purchase will be donated to that department.

How and when will our department receive our donations?
The program will send checks once a month to any department who has unpaid donations of $50 or more.
